Open Door Policy
The management at American Furukawa encourages an open door policy to foster communication in the work place. All members of the management team are available to all employees when they have a problem or concern.
Performance Appraisal Policy
Employee performance is evaluated periodically. At the option of the supervisor or manager employee performance may be re-evaluated from time to time.

At Will Employment
American Furukawa is an "at will" employer, meaning that either American Furukawa or the employee can terminate the employment relationship at any time, for any reason. A decision to terminate someone cannot be based on race, color, age, sex, sexual orientation, familial status, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, medical condition, marital status or disability or other category protected under federal, state or local laws.
We offer an array of benefit programs that include health insurance, paid holidays, sick pay and vacation.
- Health and Dental
All regular employees are eligible for insurance effective their first day of hire. Medical care providers include an HMO and a PPO plan. Dental coverage is through a PPO plan. Employees are given detailed information during orientation.
- Vision Benefit
The Vision plan is an employer paid benefit for employees with a minimum cost for dependants. You and your dependants will be eligible for exams, lenses, frames, contacts and laser vision correction discounts.
The 401(k) Savings Plan gives you the opportunity to save for your retirement. American Furukawa matches your contribution and employees are 100% vested from their first day of eligibility.
- Educational Assistance
American Furukawa is pleased to offer educational assistance to eligible employees. We reimburse for tuition and books after completion of courses or degree programs that are job related. Reimbursement is conditional on the grade earned.
- Fitness & Wellness Rebate
American Furukawa employees are eligible for reimbursement for participating in healthy activities. Health club membership dues, fees for sporting events (such as a tennis tournament) and greens fees for golf are just a few of the activities you can be reimbursed for. The Fitness and Wellness rebate is considered by the IRS to be taxable income and is included on the employee's W-2 form
- Short and Long Term Disability
The Short & Long Term Disability plans provide partial continuing income to employees who are unable to work due to illness or injury. These plans are offered at no cost to the employee.
- Life Insurance
The Group Life Insurance program provides group term life insurance paid by the company. American Furukawa also offers you an opportunity to purchase additional coverage on a voluntary basis.
- Flexible Spending Accounts
American Furukawa offers a Flexible Spending Account option which allows employees to set aside a portion of their earnings to pay for qualified expenses as established in the cafeteria plan for medical expenses and dependent care. Money deducted from an employee's pay into an FSA is not subject to payroll taxes resulting in a substantial payroll tax savings.
- Paid Vacation
Regular employees are eligible to receive vacation pay based on their length of service.
- Sick Time
Paid sick time is granted to all regular American Furukawa non-exempt employees for absences due to illness or injury. Employees may use up to one-half of their yearly-accrued sick time for the purpose of attending to a child, parent, spouse or legal dependent who is ill, (also known as Kin-care). Sick time does not carry over from year to year.
- Paid Holiday
All regular employees are eligible for Holiday pay on American Furukawa observed holidays.
